“kalu gi bandor, tengok hok driving paka pioh. Makang, makang, ‘piung’, ‘piung’, buang sapoh luo tikak. (if you go to the city, look at the drivers wearing the skullcaps. They eat and they throw the packaging out the window)
“doh ganne islang gitu. Dia ingat dia je hok nok masuk syurga, dok ingak doh ke orang laing kene tahang nge sapoh ye. (is that what you call Islam? He is just thinking about himself going to heaven, he is not thinking of others having to live on this earth with his litter)
“leni, semayang tu jadi ruting je. Dok chare doh ke kebersihan. Dia ingak buleh masuk syurga ke gitu? Dok leh. Orang hok buleh masuk syurge ni orang hok susah sebak orang laing.” (nowadays, praying has become nothing but a routine. He doesnt care about cleanliness. Does he think he is worthy of heaven? No way. People who go to heaven are people who suffer for the benefit of other people.)
We were sitting at the reggae bar. i was picking the twisties spread on the cover of a book, its cleanliness dubious, on an equally dirty table. He was sipping beer out of a dark green can, three other empty ones lined up in front of him.
